It lies just north of Tain, on the wind-swept coastline of Easter Ross. Their \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003estills are the tallest \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003efound in Scotland – as tall as a giraffe, apparently – of the same design as those used in the 1880s which were in fact \u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003esecond-hand Gin \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003estills. This means that only the very lightest vapors make it to the top, resulting in a smooth and elegant Scotch Whisky.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nThis little gem at hand was again designed by Dr. Bill Lumsden, their main Whisky creator, but this is definitely not their typical dram. Glenmorangie Tùsail is the sixth entry from the celebrated \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGlenmorangie’s Private Collection\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, showing off the \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003edistillery’s experiments \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003ewith different varieties of barley.\u003cbr\u003e\r\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nNamed after the Gaelic expression for \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e“of the origins”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, Tùsail has been made using an \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eold strain of quality barley\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e, called Maris Otter, which is much \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003emore common in English Ales than Scottish Whiskies\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e. In fact, we can’t think of any other Whisky made from this stuff, but we can guarantee the recipe works. The grain, which has been \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003efloor malted by hand\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e mind you, has less starch and more protein, which means less alcohol, but more flavor.
